Why Vancouver?

All's well with J and me, -- the photo is from last summer on Galliano Island, between Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

Why am I about to move to Vancouver, Canada? I decided that I wanted to live with more hiking, climbing, kayaking, skiing and camping in my life, and started looking into moving to Vancouver five years ago. I will move in three weeks, and have everything but a job, but have several leads for that, too. Just hope that the job will pan out before my money runs out. I am quite confident, because I have done lots of research into the market -- started to build up my network, both with potential employers and with recruiting agencies. After a year of that, I found that I needed to actually move to find something, so that's what I'm doing.

    Girl,you are so brave to have actually done this! BRAVO! Jo2 looks happy too- and thats the best part isnt it?

Sur le Chief à Squamish. Et puis notre première expédition à pied avec nuit en tente, je les ai déjà montré ici, oui, je sais. Et je les aime tellement, que je vous les montre à nouveau. Lors de notre premier voyage tente-bicyclette: en accompagnant Heike sur une étape de son trajet à travers le Canada. On lui a donné notre bâche comme contribution. Elle est d'ailleurs presque arrivée à St. John, vous pouvez lire, en allemand, par ici . Canada Day sur un camping à coté de Pemberton. Le même weekend, sur Blackcomb Mountain à Whistler. Lors de notre voyage en Allemagne: une de mes amies s'est installée dans mon terrain de jeu préféré pendant mes études, c'est-à-dire les collines d u Palatinat. Grand moment de joie de retrouver les rochers! Fête des mères

L'école, ou plutôt la maitresse de petit Jo, a organisé un thé pour les mamans. Ils nous avaient préparés des gateaux, chaque enfant en avait fait deux ou trois pour sa maman. Il y avait du café et du thé. Tout cela à une heure de l'après-midi, ce qui a fait que un quart des mamans n'a pas pu venir. Les enfants (ou plutôt les amis comme on dit ici), nous ont chanté trois chansons, récité un poème. J'ai été très émue, comme toujours à ces occasions-là. Petit Jo a chanté plus fort que tous les autres ensem ble, pas sûre que cela soit une bonne chose. Au moins il chante juste, et se rappele à peu près des mots. Bonne fête à toutes les mamans!!!!!

Current state of garden and first harvest

These pictures are of the current state of the garden. As you can see, I have a higher than 50% germination rate, which I reckon is quite good for my very first foray into vegetable gardening. The winter squash and the sunflowers grow like crazy, you really see them change from day to day. The herbs are much slower, and the tiny one-leaf coriander plant actually died over a 2-day sunny spell when we were away camping. For our upcoming two-and-a-half weeks in Europe, I have asked neighbours to water the garden, so hopefully most of it will still be alive when I'm back. Oh, and the very first harvest: two rucola and two spinach leaves, they were super tasty in my tomato salad for lunch yesterday.
